City to close portion of Voortrekker Road for stormwater pipe repairs
10 March 2025
The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents of a full road closure of Voortrekker Road west-bound between Durban Road and Rhos Street from Wednesday,12 March 2025 until Wednesday, 7 May 2025. The closure is needed to accommodate the excavation and repair of damaged stormwater pipes.
This closure will be along the west-bound carriageway towards Cape Town only. The east-bound carriageway towards Kuils River will stay open.
‘Road users are to note that from the Durban Road and Voortrekker intersection, both west-bound lanes to Rhos Street and Voortrekker Road will be closed until 7 May 2025. Traffic will therefore be diverted via Durban Road and AJ West Road. We thank residents for their patience over the next two months while our teams complete the repairs to these stormwater pipes. The infrastructure is needed to ensure the accommodation of runoff during rainfall events so that we can keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
